The legacy of
Chef Sanjeev Sethi

Our menu is a reflection of Chef Sanjeev Sethi's legacy. From his knowledge and techniques to his appreciation for flavour palettes, our food reflects his 30+ years in the industry.  Our goal is to create an unparalleled culinary experience that will take the art of Indian cuisine to a new level.  Indian food has a rich, complicated history but the secret excellence is keeping things simple. This is a lesson he learned from one of the greatest chefs he knew - his mother. She was his inspiration in everything he created. It was in her kitchen that he learned that each dish needs to be made with love, with no compromises or shortcuts. A rule we continue to follow today.

Our menu is a rich culmination of traditional recipes prepared with new techniques and given an innovative presentation. We offer you the purest experience of a rich culinary culture. Our food is made with the highest quality ingredients, and we take the utmost care in preparation. We trust that you will find the flavours sublime, the presentation gorgeous and the ambience striking. Always paying tribute to the legacy of Chef Sanjeev Sehti.

Our history

Chef Sanjeev Sethi was the Co-Founder and Executive Chef of The Host Fine Indian Cuisine in Toronto, Canada. He immigrated in 1989 where he started, like many entrepreneurs do, with a vision and no more than a little pocket change.

His humble career in food began as a server. It was there that he learned the skills of a professional kitchen and restauranteur. Combing them with the lessons from his mother, he set out on an adventure of a lifetime with his brother, Jay Sethi.

In 1995, the brothers opened their first location in Yorkville (Toronto). Soon after the second location in Richmond Hill opened, followed by an array of Host restaurants including, Mantra, Bhai, Firangi and more.

Today they are 5 locations strong and lead the industry in Indian Cuisine when it comes to quality and consistency. As the next generation enters the reigns with Chef Ashish Sethi we know this is only the beginning for The Host.
